One of the biggest concerns for international patients considering a facelift in Bangkok is recovery time. How long do you need to stay? When can you fly home? What does the healing process look like? This guide answers all these questions based on our experience with hundreds of international patients at Teeraporn Hospital.
Day-by-Day Recovery Timeline (Face Lock Technique)
Day 1 — Surgery Day
The Face Lock procedure takes 2-4 hours under general anesthesia. You will stay overnight at the hospital for observation. Mild swelling and tightness are normal and expected.
Days 2-3 — Rest at Hotel
Discharged to your nearby hotel. Swelling peaks on day 2-3 — this is completely normal. Keep your head elevated, take prescribed medications, and rest. Cold compresses help reduce swelling.
Days 4-5 — Swelling Reduces
Most patients notice significant improvement by day 4-5. You can move around your hotel or take short walks. Avoid sun exposure and strenuous activity. Follow-up check at the clinic on day 5.
Days 6-7 — Ready to Fly Home
Most Face Lock patients are cleared to fly home on day 6-7. Remaining swelling and bruising is minimal and can be covered with light makeup. You will look noticeably refreshed but not “done.”
Week 2-4 — Back to Normal Life
Residual swelling gradually subsides. You can return to desk work within 1-2 weeks. Exercise and strenuous activities can resume after 3-4 weeks. Final results become fully visible at 3-6 months.
